Establishing A Hair Regimen for Long-Term Results

Posted by Vien

I can't stress enough how important it is to establish a hair care regimen for yourself (that you will actually stick to) and for your hair. Caring for your hair is not easy and given how hair doesn't grow back too quickly, it's quite common for it to be neglected. This aims to help you take good care of your locks and grow them long, healthy, strong, and thick.

Your hair regimen is essential to maintaining healthy hair. It's important to remember that the products you use on your hair can determine the health and strength of your strands.

Knowing your Hair

The best way to start a new hair regimen is by determining your hair type. Most hair types fall into one of four groups and are either thin, thick, or coarse: Straight, Wavy, Curly, Kinky

This will help you avoid any unnecessary damage that can occur from using products that aren't made for your specific needs.

Each has advantages and disadvantages. For instance, straight hair typically feels and looks greasy more quickly than curly hair because oil travels more quickly down the hair shaft

Invest in healthy hair products

Once you've established what type of hair you have, it's time to invest in some quality products. Look for brands that use natural ingredients like herbs or essential oils instead of harmful chemicals like sulfates (which strip your hair of its natural oils). You can also ask your stylist what products they recommend for healthy hair growth.

Cleanse
Cleansing is a balance between removing things like dead skin and product residue without stripping the hair of its natural oils.

Without a good wash, sebum will build up, leaving unwanted oiliness. So will dead skin if not removed. The skin renews itself around every 28 days, and this may be noticeable if the hair is not clean. And, if you’re an avid swimmer, you don’t want to leave chlorine on your locks. The longer it sits, the more time it has to strip hair of its natural elements and cause damage.

Washing your hair with water alone can leave it feeling dry, so it’s important to use products that will help restore moisture back into the scalp and hair follicles. You can also use conditioners after shampooing to help lock in moisture from the inside out

You can check these products out:

This product gently gives the hair and scalp a deep wash. The micelles capture the residue and impurities, keeping the structure of the hair intact.
*How to use: Apply on wet hair. Lather. Rinse.

Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo clarifies and works to remove impurities leaving hair shiny and free of build-up! It is perfect to use on the hair before chemical treatments!
*How to use: Apply to wet hair, massage into a lather, and rinse. Follow with any Redken conditioner. Use one time per week. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately.

Gentle yet effective deep-cleansing shampoo, for a healthy scalp and thicker, happier hair. Great for all hair types, especially oily hair and scalp.
*How to use: Apply to wet hair and lather by gently massaging. Rinse thoroughly.

Condition
The advantages of conditioners are numerous. The primary one is hydrating, but there are also benefits for detangling, increasing shine, and reducing frizz. A cationic surfactant is the conditioner's active component. This adheres to damp hair, covering the strands to restore any moisture that shampoo may have taken out.

You can check these products out:

Very dry hair is often caused by external stress factors such as incorrect care, dry air, overly hot blow-drying, or (incorrectly performed) chemical treatments. The hair hangs down dull and lifeless; it lacks natural shine and shows clear styling fails. This repairing intensive care conditioner provides a moisture boost and shiny, silky hair.
*How to use: After washing, distribute evenly into towel-dried hair. Leave in for 2 to 3 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

This product detangles, controls, and disciplines the frizz of unruly, straight, and curly hair. Provides intense moisturization, luminosity, and softness. No-rinse.
*How to use: Spread evenly through washed, towel-dried hair. No-rinse.

This feather-light dry conditioning spray leaves hair velvety soft, touchable, and detangled. Starch and Dry Cleansing Complex absorbs oil without leaving a cast, leaving hair soft, silky, and detangled. Provides a natural shine and UV filter.
*How to use: Shake, then spray directly onto the lengths of dry hair at a distance of 30 cm (12”).

Moisturize and Seal
You might wish to start a two-step technique called "moisturize and seal" to provide the hair with even more hydration. This can be especially helpful for coiled or kinky hair that is prone to being dry. When using a hydrating product with sealing oil, the goal is to seal in moisture rather than to lock in dryness.

You can check these products out:

Moisturizing essential oil for dry and damaged hair.
*How to use: Add a few drops to enrich products.

This silicone-free oil boosts shine, moisture, and smoothness for healthier curls and happier hair days.
*How to use: Apply to wet or dry hair for added shine and moisture. Use alone or layer with any Living Proof Curl styler. Dry as usual. For added softness and definition, use as a pre-shampoo treatment. Apply to dry hair, leaving it on for five minutes before cleansing.

Tonique Hydratant is naturally enriched with seaweed extracts and amino acids to hydrate and strengthen every strand. Use this lightweight tonic on clean towel-dried hair or in between shampoos to refresh and restyle your thirsty tresses. With a soothing lavender scent.
*How to use: May be used either after shampooing or on dry hair whenever desired.

Detangle
Detangling is crucial for preventing breakage and greatly easing your life. However, in order to prevent unintentionally pulling out hair, you must use the proper tool, such as a wide-tooth comb. You might need to detangle every day or much less frequently depending on your hair type.

You can check these products out:

Like a facial toner, this fine liquid mist removes unwanted residue (like mineral deposits) from the hair and leaves a fresh, beautiful finish.
*How to use: Shake well. After shampooing and conditioning your hair, lightly spray PHILIP B Detangling Toning Mist through the mid-shaft and ends. Squeeze into your hair, towel dry, and style as usual.

The flexibility of the bristles ensures pain-free detangling while the soft ballpoint tips massage the scalp to stimulate blood circulation. Perfect for all hair types, wigs, and hair with extensions.

Spot-treat
Spot-treating your hair simply entails identifying the troublesome spot and taking action to address it. For instance, you might attempt a protein treatment because you're tired of how frizzy your hair is. Or you may have observed that your scalp is feeling particularly dry, in which case you apply a deeply nourishing cream.

You can check these products out:

This rejuvenating pure organic argan oil serum for lustrous-looking shine gives an instant boost creating a smooth and healthy look without residue.
*How to use: Apply by spreading through damp or dry hair. Do not rinse.

An intensive hair and scalp treatment that rehydrates and clarifies the hair and scalp, reversing the frying effects of heat styling.
*How to use: Use on parched, damaged hair twice a week; on dry hair, once a week; and on normal hair 1 to 4 times a month. For a dehydrated scalp, use once or twice a week. Apply Rejuvenating Oil liberally to dry, unwashed hair, starting two inches from the roots, and work it in with your fingers down to the ends. To help the botanical moisture sink in quickly, warm your hair with a blow dryer for one to two minutes.

This product helps restore and optimize scalp health, creating an ideal environment for hair growth.
*How to use: Apply a few drops to fingertips and massage into the scalp in thinning areas twice daily on damp or dry hair. For optimum results, use in conjunction with STEP 1 and STEP 2.

Style and Protect
You may style your hair pretty much however you like with the help of a variety of tools and techniques, including volumizers and gels. However, if you enjoy using heated tools, you'll need to apply a heat protection spray on those strands.

You can check these products out:

This extra strong hold anti-humidity hairspray holds hair in place for 24 hours without residue or flaking.
*How to use: Hold the can 8-12 inches away from dry hair and spray lightly. Layer for added hold. Use with your customized styling regiment.

This ultra-fine wax mist adds natural shine and definition to all types of hair with a non-oily finish. You can even use it to smooth down frizz and flyaway hair. And it works a treat when making a sleek ponytail, too.
*How to use: Spray onto dry hair at a 12 " distance.

The award-winning Cloud Nine Irons include our mineral-infused plates that glide smoothly through the hair, resulting in beautifully conditioned and highly polished hair. The wide super smooth plates and curved body allow you to straighten, wave or curl more hair, faster.

Don't play hairdresser at Home

Don't use scissors and razors to cut your own hair. Even if you have a lot of experience doing so, the results may not be what you want. If you don't want to go to the salon, then find someone who can do it for you without damaging your hair too much.

Maintain regularly scheduled haircuts

Hair grows at different rates on different parts of our body, so getting regular cuts helps maintain its health and evenness. If you're not sure how long your hair should be, you can ask your stylist what they suggest. Starting with an inch or two longer than usual will give you options when it comes time to cut again!

Conclusion

If you're not already established with a routine for your hair, now is the time to start. Establishing a routine is one of the most essential aspects of your hair journey, and it's something that will provide you with lifelong benefits.

Stick to the regimen and care for your hair as it should be cared for and you will see results eventually. It won't happen overnight, but if it did, would it really be worth waiting for? Here's to an awesome hair journey!
