Prevention and Treatment of Stretch Marks

Posted by Edge

Stretch marks are a result of your skin being rapidly stretched, which can happen during pregnancy, weight gain, or other hormonal changes. Although they usually emerge as silver lines on the surface of your skin, they could have been red or purple at first. While they typically diminish over time they may not completely disappear without treatment.

Stretch marks are not dangerous, but they can be unsightly and uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are many ways to treat stretch marks and prevent them from developing in the first place.

Laser therapy

his option uses concentrated laser beams that promote new tissue growth and fade scarring.  Stretch marks are exposed to treatment may enhance collagen production and assist stretch marks in fading to blend in with the surrounding skin. This process takes several sessions but is not painful at all.

Topical oil and creams

These products contain ingredients that help to restore elasticity to the skin, which can help reduce the appearance of stretch marks.

This is the finest grade oil for Aromatherapy. For many centuries Camellia Oil from Japan has been used for the care of nails, hair, scalp, and combination skin. Used in the Elemis Nurturing Mother-To-Be pregnancy massage, this light oil is easily absorbed and rich in plant collagen to keep the skin moisturized and supple, helping to prevent stretch marks.

Suitable for use during pregnancy.

*How to use: Use daily, AM and PM. Great for skin maintenance and throughout pregnancy over the bust, tummy, buttocks, and thighs.

The rich emulsion is formulated to increase the skin's elasticity during pregnancy and dieting, specifically to combat the formation of stretch marks due to physiological reasons. It is a suitable treatment for those undergoing rapid changes in weight due to drastic diets.
*How to use: Apply it onto the affected areas twice a day by gently massaging it in.

An emulsion specially formulated to prevent and soften the appearance of stretch marks and attenuate signs of sagging skin. Multivitamin formula enriched with cupuacu butter. A reaffirming cream that is suitable for all skin types.
*How to use: Apply the product to the treatment area, massaging it in gently until penetrated in full. Apply twice or more times a day, particularly during and after pregnancy or in slimming diets.

It's very important to take good care of your skin. Yes, there are many treatments out there, from lotions to creams, but keep in mind that none of these treatments will completely remove stretch marks. It will be most effective if we combine treatments with healthy lifestyle habits. This will help in the healing process and make the skin look better and healthier.

There are some steps you can take to keep your skin healthy, and these include:

  • Avoid smoking. Smoking can damage the blood vessels that supply nutrients to the skin cells and make them less elastic. This causes them to break more easily when stretched, resulting in stretch marks.
  • Stay hydrated by drinking water or other liquids regularly throughout the day (about 4-6 cups per day). This helps keep your body hydrated and absorbs water from inside your body into its outer layer, which helps prevent dryness in the skin and reduces peeling due to low humidity levels.
  • Eat a healthy diet consisting mostly of fruits/vegetables with moderate amounts of lean proteins such as eggs & chicken breast and whole grains.

Conclusion

Stretch marks are a common and distressing condition that many people suffer from. However, there is a lot of help available to minimize the appearance of stretch marks, whether using treatments or just making informed lifestyle choices. The most important thing to remember is if you want results, consistency is key!
