You Don't Have to Live With Acne, Here's How to Treat It.

Posted by Edge

Acne is a skin condition characterized by blackheads and whiteheads, pimples, and other symptoms caused by clogged hair follicles. Acne occurs when the hair follicles beneath your skin become clogged with oil and dirt from the surface of your skin. The follicle opening becomes inflamed as a result of the trapped sebum, bacteria, dead skin cells, and even makeup particles. It can become extremely painful when a pore becomes deep enough to infect the surrounding tissue. Acne primarily affects teenagers due to hormonal changes, but it can affect adults as well.

Acne is a common skin condition that affects people of all ages and both sexes. It can make you feel self-conscious and embarrassed, but there are things you can do about it.

For Prevention:

  • Washing your face twice a day using a gentle cleanser or face wash dedicated to your Skin type is essential for removing impurities, dead skin cells, and excess oil from your skin's surface. Follow it up with your skincare routine.

Retextures your skin to give you a smooth, blemish-free complexion. White willow bark exfoliates and breaks up pore-clogging oil to boost cell turnover and tighten the appearance of your pores.
*How to use: Moisten face and neck with water. Apply a small amount of Cleansing Complex to moistened hands. Rub hands together and massage cleanser over face and neck. Rinse thoroughly and pat dry. For best results, follow the complete iS Clinical skin care regimen.

This formulation provides necessary anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and exfoliation benefits without over-drying the skin using salicylic acid and the heart of green tea.
*How to use: Dispense 1 pump into dampened (or dry) hands; add water for more lather. Massage into face and neck for several minutes. Remove with warm water and cloth. Pat skin dry.

Epidermal cleanser formulated without aggressive surfactants (soap, sulfates), fat, or synthetic perfume, using very gentle foaming agents. Presented in the form of a fresh foaming gel, it was specifically created for acne skin.
*How to use: Morning and evening, moisten the skin and apply a small quantity of Clear Up Cleansing Gel to the forehead, the cheeks, the chin, the neck, and décolleté and massage gently with fingertips, insisting on the T-zone (forehead, nose, chin), while avoiding the eye contour. Add a little lukewarm water and lather. Rinse thoroughly first with lukewarm water, then with cold. Dry skin gently with facial tissue.

Desulfurizing, sulfate-free foam cleanser that perfectly cleans oily, acne-prone skin. Contains a synergy of antibacterial, exfoliating, and anti-inflammatory ingredients to help reduce the severity of acne pimples.
*How to use: Apply to damp skin, massage gently for a few seconds, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid the eye area. Also suitable for use in the shower for body parts that produce too much sebum. Finish with the Nelly De Vuyst pH Toner BioAcne and the Nelly De Vuyst Purifying Gel BioAcne. For daily use, morning and evening.

  • Avoid touching your face. You can not only spread bacteria but you can also irritate already inflamed facial skin. Do not pop your pimples with your fingers as it can cause infection and scarring.
  • Limit eating foods that contain high amounts of fat and sugar, such as pizza, ice cream, and french fries. These foods increase blood sugar levels in the body, which can cause acne breakouts in some people.

For Treatment:

  • Use an over-the-counter (OTC) product containing Benzoyl Peroxide or Salicylic Acid to help unclog pores and kill bacteria that cause pimples or blemishes. These products can dry out the skin, so it is important to use them when needed rather than every day for long periods of time.

Formulated with 5% pharmaceutical-grade Benzoyl Peroxide, this lightweight acne-fighting lotion is a concentrated acne-clearing treatment. This lotion effectively clears and prevents the formation of new acne pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads. Ideal for acneic skin and may also be used as a spot treatment for occasional breakouts.

*How to use: Wash hands with non-medicated soap (contains no Benzoyl Peroxide). Cleanse and dry your face thoroughly before use. Using fingertips apply evenly to affected areas. Use both morning and night or as directed by a physician. If dryness or peeling occurs, reduce application to once a day or every other day. Fair-skinned individuals should begin with one application. For more severe cases, and/or if substantial improvement is not apparent within 3 to 4 weeks, consult a health care practitioner.

A “must” product for acne skin. A light, fluid gel formulated without parabens, perfume, or synthetic colorants and created specifically for the treatment of acne. It contributes to controlling bacterial growth by reducing the number of acne pimples. Thanks to its powerful antibacterial action.

*How to use: Cleanse the skin thoroughly with the Clear Up Cleansing Gel, rinse abundantly with lukewarm water, then with cold and gently dry skin with facial tissue. Apply a small quantity of the Control Solution to the forehead, the cheeks, and the chin and massage in with light effleurages. Avoid direct contact with the eyes. In the morning, it is highly recommended to follow the use of the Anti-Shine Moisturizer SPF 15 so as to protect the skin from UV rays and avoid a “rebound” effect. The Clear Up Control Solution - Anti-Blemishes is recommended as a 6-week purifying cure.

A fast-acting, all-over acne gel treatment powered by 2% salicylic acid, AHAs, niacinamide, and monk's pepper to fight acne blemishes, reduce redness, unclog pores, control visible oiliness, and prevent future breakouts. Aloe vera and green tea soothe skin for a clear, balanced complexion.
*How to use: Once a day, apply a thin layer all over clean, dry skin. If using Alpha Beta Daily Peel in AM, apply Acne Eliminating Gel in PM. Follow with a Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare serum and moisturizer of your choice.

A facial gel that eliminates the acne-causing bacteria while minimizing potential irritation. Patented time-released micronized Benzoyl Peroxide eliminates acne-causing bacteria while minimizing potential irritation.
*How to use: Cleanse the skin thoroughly before applying medication. Cover the affected area(s) with a thin layer one to three times daily, or as directed by your physician. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two to three times daily or as directed by your physician.

Conclusion

Acne treatment comes in a variety of forms. However, the treatment that is best for you is determined by your specific condition. If lifestyle changes and home care treatments are ineffective, you can consult a dermatologist who will examine your condition and prescribe medication. Remember to do your research before purchasing a product and to patch test it before using it.
