The Very Best Makeup Products for Your Skin

Makeup is an art form, a representation of individuality and freedom of expression. It is used to correct flaws and to enhance the natural beauty of a person which helps an individual in presenting themselves in society with confidence.

It's easy to get overwhelmed when there are so many different cosmetic products and formulations to select from, as well as the ongoing changes in design and trends. We can attain the look we want and get the most out of our makeup as long as we understand the basics and know what each product can genuinely do for us.

Types of Makeup

Primer Foundation Concealer

Powder Blush Contour

Bronzer Highlighter

Contour

A technique used to add dimension to the face using a slightly darker makeup than your usual skin color to create the effect of shadow and light.

Because you're using one color or shade to cover the entire face with foundation and concealer, the skin may appear flat afterward. The contour technique can be used to restore the face's dimension, deepen a certain feature, and create the illusion of a slimmer feature.

When you contour your:

  • Nose: Can bring a definition to the bridge, and slim it down in a natural way.
  • Jawline: Could add definition and shape to the whole face and can also hide the double chin.
  • Temples: Gives the face an illusion of an oval shape.
  • Eye Crease: Adds more depth to the eyes.
  • Cheekbones: Slims down the face.

Contouring is different for everyone since this depends on the bone structure and shape of the face.

Here is a guide:

*Apply the contour along the hairline to give the illusion of a smaller forehead and below the cheekbones starting from the ear down to the middle of the cheeks.

*Apply below cheekbones starting from the ear and ending on the middle of the cheeks. Do not bring the contour close to the mouth as it will give an opposite result. *Apply along the forehead and temples to balance out the upper part of the face with the narrower lower part and also on the lower chin bring to bring out the point.

*Applying along the sides of the forehead, temples, and hairline can create an illusion of a shorter shape. Also below the cheekbones starting at the ears, ending in the middle of the cheeks and the jawbone to slim the area.

*Apply the contour around the sides of your forehead and temples to slim down the area. Below the cheekbones from the ear to the middle of the cheeks and then down to the jawline to add some length to the face.

Types of Contour

Powder and cream contour are the two main formulae for this face makeup. They both achieve the same thing, yet each formula's base, tool, and application technique are fundamentally different.

CreamAfter foundation, apply cream contour before setting the base with powder. It has a more natural, skin-like appearance and is easier to work with, making it ideal for regular use. You can use your fingers, a cosmetic sponge, or a blending brush to blend it in. Begin with a sheer coating and build up if required.

PowderA matte finish and a more defined effect can be achieved with powder contouring. This is fantastic if you have a long day ahead of you because it lasts a long time. Apply a small amount using a contour brush, then blend with a clean brush (one that hasn't been touched by any product) and add more as needed. If you put too much, it will appear overdone and unrealistic.
